Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel is the first project of the 2019 Convention season. This statue was created in the weeks leading up to the Captain Marvel movie premiere. After the experience with webbing on Spider-Man, I decided to do the same raised design on the Captain Marvel torso. Since I knew this would take a long time to coat in mod podge, I did the torso first. I traced the torso pattern off of an image of a LEGO Captain Marvel set released this year. I then cut out the pattern on thin 2mm foam.

The star on Captain Marvel was cut out of another layer of 2 mm foam. I painted it with a metallic gold paint and then masked off sections of each point. I painted a darker metallic brass color on the non-masked sections to give the star a 3D effect.
