LEGO Lich King Costume

The first half of 2017 was pretty busy with the Voltron, Star-Lord, Groot, Terminator, Jesse Quick, and Jay Garrick all before Tidewater Comicon, I wanted to do something a little more unusual for my son’s next costume. As a fan of Warcraft, I’ve always been impressed with the Arthas (Lich King) character and have loved all of the different costumes people have made over the years. Since I knew I would never make a Lich King costume for myself and having never seen a LEGO Lich King costume attempted, I thought this would be a unique costume idea.

I did find a custom made LEGO Lich King minifig on the internet to use as a guide. Like all of my LEGO costumes, the head is one my favorite and most creative parts of the costume. After making the standard LEGO head shape, I created a paper template to form the helmet around the head. On the minifig I found on the internet, the nose guard doesn’t connect to the rest of the face plate. This nose guard is similar to the old LEGO Castle helmets which I initially like but in hindsight, I think I would have made this part look more like the game to make the figure more recognizable.

The image I used from the internet had an interesting balance of details. Enough to make it looks like the Lich King but also not too many to lose the LEGO feel. For example, the skulls aren’t very detailed but look like what I would expect from a real LEGO minifig. I really liked how the torso and shoulders turned out.
One of the biggest parts of any Lich King costume is his legendary sword, Frostmourne. You can see work in progress pics here.
